Doug Glovaski is a painter living and working in the small town of Pacific Grove, Ca. where he and his wife moved to from San Francisco about a year and a half ago. Glovaski has been a professional artist for over twenty years now with numerous shows at the three galleries that represent him.
Glovaski spent most of his childhood and teen years in another small town in California called Los Gatos.
Growing up in a small town would have its advantages. He and his friends were free to roam and play within a large radius of their homes without fear or worry of any danger.
Glovaski became interested in art at an early age. His parents encouraged him to draw and paint beginning when he was around nine years old. He would continue his study and practice of art through high school.
" I had a great teacher in high school who taught us the value of not being afraid to fail in our work."
Glovaski would enter the work force after high school where he remained for several years until one day at the age of thirty four, he had something of an epiphany. " I remember thinking to myself that I felt like I was wasting my life at these menial jobs and that what I really wanted to do was be an artist."
Glovaski would go on to formulate a plan to reach his goal and shortly thereafter he began working with local art consultants, showing his work in cafes and restaurants in the area. From there he would meet and subsequently join a prominant local gallery where he grew and cultivated his carreer as an artist with many solo and group shows.
In 1995 Glovaski and his wife would move to San Francisco, Ca. where he would meet Lisa Chadwick of the Dolby/Chadwick Gallery where he has now been represented for over ten years.
Glovaski is also represented in New York by the Sears-Peyton Gallery and in Santa Monica, Ca. by the Ruth Bachofner Gallery.
Glovaski received the coveted Pollock/Krasner Foundation Grant in 1996 for artistic merit and is collected by several institutions as well as numerous corporate and private collections. The institutions include the Fogg Museum at Harvard, Cambridge, Mass., the Achenbach Collection at the Palace, Legion of Honor, San francisco, Ca., and the San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, Ca.
